Sunset Speedway Velocity 250, Sunday September 26, 2010

Well calling this race, The Velocity 250 certainly was a very fitting title. The turnout of cars from all different tracks was considerable and the pits were full, it was a fluery of activity all day. The grandstands were equally full. With the season drawing to a close at Sunset with this final event, everyone would see great racing all day long. Mother Nature threathened with rain all day long but not a drop would fall on this, the final event.

Immediately following the announcement of Saturday September 18, 2010 being rained out. The 17 team of Kevin Cornelius purchased the white 47. This now left Tom with the decision of, Is our season over or do we attempt to get the original orange 47 ready for the the Velocity 250. Tom had exactly 7 days to assemble and install a brand new drive train in order to go racing on Sunday. As everyone knows, when the itch is still there, we need to scratch. The team pulled together and chose the long hours to make Sunday possible.

Once at the track, there were still things that needed completion and the team went to work preparing for raceday.

In the first heat, Tom started 7th. Tom worked his way to a second place finish and at this point, Tom and the crew were confident that the hard work was going to pay off. Adjusting to a car change was the biggest hurdle for Tom and the crew, but it would all be laid to rest by second heat.

In the second heat, Tom started 5th and would make his way to 3rd. Everyone was happy with the car, and final adjustments were made for the feature.

The 11 of Morrow would sit on the pole with Tom starting outside pole. With the roll of the dice, Morrow rolled a 7 and that would have Tom starting 6th in the feature.

Once the feature started Tom worked his way quickly to 2nd and was now chasing the 69 of Inglis. With a caution coming out at lap 23 of the 75 lap feature, this closed the gap from Inglis. On the restart, Tom wasted no time pulling out front. From that point on, Tom led the remainder of the race, with a few more restarts, racing Inglis for top spot. Tom would not be denied the victory on the this night. Tom and the crew were all excited for this win, as so many long hours had gone in to making it even possible to race.

Special thanks go out to Mike McColl and everyone on the crew, for all their help and dedication to this team.

Thanks to everyone that makes it possible every week for us to do what we are so passionate about.

At this time, Tom and the crew are undecided as to whether they will be competing at Flamboro Oktoberfest. If Tom makes his way to Flamborough this coming weekend, it will be on the Sunday only. This coming Saturday night, Herb Walters will be going to Peterborough Speedway to gain some seat time in the limited late model before Fall Colors.

    Have a great week everyone.

Sunset International Speedway Sunday September 12, 2010

Well heading into Sunday, it was clear that alot of Late Models from accross Ontario would come out for a great day of racing. If you made the show, you saw a fantastic show.

For a first time event, the rules set in place looked to be pretty even for everyone in attendance and with so many variations, Mark had done a great job balancing the cars out so that anyone had a shot a winning on Sunday. With Tom and the crew gearing up for Sunday, it was evident that McColl racing had supplied Tom with a jewel.

It was great to have Mike and Jenn McColl in attendance as well.

In the first heat first heat, Tom started 5th at the drop of the green, Tom wasted no time making his way to the front of the field and go on to win. The crew seemed to have everything where they liked it, looking at the first heat outcome.

In the second heat, Tom started 6th and quickly made his way to 3rd where he would ultimately finish.

For the feature, Tom would have started 3rd. The 9 of Watson would sit on the pole and thus make the role of the die for starting position, rolling a 9. Tom started the feature in 7th position. In the early going, Tom would work his way up to 3rd. At this point, Tom found his way past Shaw, and began to chip away at Watson's lead, looking for his 2nd victory since debuting a brand new McColl Racing Enterprises chassis over the Labour Day long weekend.

Tom would attempt a hail mary, last ditch effort pass on the final lap, but would cross the line less than a quarter car length in behind the 9 of Watson.

It was a great race and great day overall for Tom and crew, and we would like to thank the crew for their continued support and commitment to the team.

Have a great week everyone, and see you all Saturday night.

Sunset International Speedway Saturday September 11, 2010

Coming off a fantastic debut with the new McColl car and winning the innaugural McColl Racing Enterprises Ltd. Late Model Tour Championship, the team was ready for Saturday night. The new car had proven why McColl Racing Enterprises are incredibly talented at what they do.

With the change in seasons coming and the end of the racing season drawing nearer, weather was looking a little iffy but Mother Nature would hold off on the rain until all the racing was complete on Saturday night.

In the first heat Tom would start 6th and come home with a 3rd place finish, after having to make his way to the rear of the field for getting into the back of the 9 of Watson.

In the second heat Tom would start 4th and manage to get a 2nd place finish.

The feature had Tom starting 17th. When the green drop, it would be tight racing throughout the entire race with no one but the 29 of Sean Grosman able to break free of the pack. The feature saw 1 caution come out and once again on the restart everyone was looking to try and get a jump, but the racing was very tight. Tom would be able to get up to 3rd after working on the 48 of Baker for quite a few laps. When it was over, it would be the 29 of Grosman taking home his first win of the season, and a first time owners win for Tom in 2010. Tom would finish with a 3rd place. With the 11 of Morrow finishing 5th on the night. The points battle going into the final night is close.

Congratulations to Sean Grosman and his crew of Herb, Travis, Paul, and Matt (who was disappointed that he was out of town for the big win). As well, to Tyler, Jesse & Kyle who are probably still watching it on you tube every chance they get.

Sunset Speedway McColl Racing Limited Late Model Touring Series Final Round, Sunday September 5th, 2010

Well mother nature predicted rain Saturday and into Sunday and with that, Saturday night racing would be cancelled, but Sunday looked promising with some showers in the early part of the afternoon, they would finally clear out and the final round of the McColl Limited Late Model Touring Series would happen.

We would deliver the black 47 last Sunday and begin preparations on the new car this past week, getting ready for the weekend. As with any McColl race car, enough cannot be said about how great these guys really are. Tom and the crew had begun testing and felt that this car was fantastic right off the trailer. With communication all day to Mike McColl, Tom and the crew were ready for the night with a few adjustments.

Going into Sunday, the points were all tied up between Tom and Dwayne Baker for the lead and close behind were Al Inglis and Jason Tremble.

In the first heat Tom started 5th and would work his way to 2nd.

In the second heat Tom once again started 5th and quickly got to the front to take the win.

With Tom being the top finisher for both heats combined, he would be starting on the pole, which in turn meant a roll of the dice. Tom rolled a 3 and this would be his starting position.

At the drop of the green Tom wasted no time getting out front and pulling away quickly. With 25 laps complete the first caution would come out for debris. Tom had begun putting lap cars between himself and the 48 of Baker. On the restart, all lap cars were sent around and this would set up Tom and Baker side by side. Tom would get good restarts and was able to pull away from Baker. The cautions kept coming setting up the same restarts between the 47 and 48. With under 20 laps to go, on the restart, Baker would get loose coming out of 4 and get into Tom. Both, racing every lap like the last lap. Tom would have to go pitside to make repairs, and this would have Tom at the rear of the field on the final restart of the race. Tom would manage to race his way back up to a 2nd place finish behind the 7 of Tiemersma. With this finish, it would give Tom and the crew enough points to take the overall title.

It was a fantastic night with the new McColl car and everyone was extremely happy with the results.

Many thanks go out to everyone on the crew, as well as McColl Racing Enterprises.

Once again, this weekend coming up is a double header and all we can do is hope that mother nature is willing to cooperate.

    Have a great week everyone.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday August 28, 2010

As we get ever closer to the end of another season, the racing gets better and better every week. The weather on Saturday was absolutely amazing. The grandstands were full and the fans would get their moneys worth on this night, as they would get double features.

With the rains coming once the qualifying was complete the week before. We would start with the completion of the features first.

The black 47 was to be delivered to its new owners on August 22nd, but with the rules of racing it was the car that had qualified so phone calls were quickly made and the new owner of the black 47 was gracious enough to allow Tom to keep the car for another week, so as not to lose valuable points. Thus, the brand new white McColl 47 will be making its debut on Saturday September 4th. Special thanks go out to Mike McColl, Alan Pinsonneault & Scott McTeer.

In the first feature Tom started 15th. The crew had worked hard getting ready for the feature. Tom and the crew were very happy with the performance and handling of the car and once the feature started it was quite evident that they had mission accomplished. The track would be very greasy and create alot of cautions. Tom worked his way to the front very quickly finding the right openings. Tom would take the lead and not look back, going on to win the first feature of the night.

With the 29 of Sean Grosman seeing trouble in the first feature, the crew were kept busy making repairs to get Sean out racing. With a great crew on hand, they were able to get Sean ready to race.

Next it was onto the start of the heats. In the first heat, Tom started 5th and again wasted no time making his way to the front of the field going on to take the win.

In the second heat, Tom would start 4th and finish second behind the 48 of Dwayne Baker.

After the heats, the crew had made some minor adjustments and got ready for the feature. Tom started 14th. Tom worked his way through the field, the 19 of Jason Witty had got out to the lead quickly and was pulling away with every lap and then a caution came out for debris sitting in the second groove of turn 4. In turn, this would now close the field of cars back up and Tom would now be restarting beside the 19. At the drop of the green, Witty would jump to the lead in front of Tom, with only a handful of laps left, Tom would get under Witty, but got into him, sending him up the track. Tom not happy with this, graciously allowed Witty to gather his car back up and get in front again. With 2 laps left, Tom took to the outside of Witty and when they got to the checkered flag, it would be Witty wining by a fender and Tom taking second.

It was a fantastic night for Tom and the crew. This week the crew will be hard at work preparing the white 47 for racing Saturday night and the final round of the McColl Late Model Series race on Sunday.

    Have a great week everyone.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday August 14, 2010

It would turn out to be an extremely busy week for Tom and the crew. Tom drove out to McColl Racing Enterprises on Friday morning to pick up a brand new race car as the sale of the Black McColl car was becoming a reality.

With the points battle in both the McColl Racing Touring Series and Sunset International Speedway being very close, Tom had brought both cars on Saturday to practice early to get familiar with the new car.

The weather had seemed a little questionable Saturday afternoon as it was raining all around the racetrack but it would prove to be a great night of racing with the rain holding off for the evening.

In the first heat Tom started 6th and would finish 4th behind his other car, the 29 being driven by Sean Grosman. With each passing week, Sean has been becoming more and more comfortable holding off Tom in the first heat.

In the second heat Tom started 5th and would manage to get to the front and take the win. The crew were pleased with the car and worked on getting ready for the feature.

In the feature Tom started 16th. The feature saw a couple of red flags, the first for a medical emergency in the grandstands and the second for a wild pile up, literally for the 10 of Fumerton and 12 of Yake. Tom would stay close to the 9 of Watson and was able to move around Watson, when he encountered a flat tire. It was then the 19 of Witty that Tom would manage to pass after he methodically waited for the right moment to make his move. This would then have the 45 of Poole and and 11 of Morrow racing for the lead. As Tom was sitting closely in third once again waiting for the right moment. With the laps winding down, the 11 of Morrow would push up on the 45 and Tom dove to the bottom as the 11 had left the lane open, once realizing that Tom was there, Morrow would try to hold off Tom but in turn cost himself the position. With a late caution with 2 laps to go, this would then put Tom on the outside of 45. With a perfect restart by both Tom and Poole, Tom raced hard on the outside to take the lead and go on to win the feature. With the frustration of getting beat at the end, Poole would get into Tom after the feature.

We would like to thank the crew, Dan, Herb, Matt, Paul & Travis for their hard work and commitment to keeping both Tom and Sean happy racers during the night. With having so much on the go Saturday, this team pulls together and makes every race fun and entertaining.

Please don't forget this coming Friday night is the next race in the McColl Racing Series at Barrie Speedway and hope that everyone will come out and show their support.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday August 7, 2010

Over the past couple of years, the Ontario South Simcoe Special Olympics Night at Sunset Speedway seen rain. This year the athletes would not be denied some good racing. The weather was fantastic and the crowds were incredible as they have been increasing every week. The 50/50 draw actually sold out with the winner taking home well over $1,000.00.

During intermission, Tom made his way up to the stands to sign autographs and took photos with the athletes. It was great to see everyone having a good time and enjoying the evening.

The first heat seen Tom starting 5th and finishing 4th. With such tough competition every night, positions gained are getting harder and harder every week.

The second heat had Tom starting 4th outside of the 9 of Watson, this would be the most intense race of the evening as Tom and Watson would race right down to the checkered flag side by side with Tom winning the heat by mere inches on the outside.

In the feature, Tom would start 15th. At the drop of the green it would be side by side racing for the entire 30 laps, as there would be no cautions on this night. Tom was able to work his way up to a 7th place finish.

The points battle has narrowed up in the top 3 and with only a handful of points separating the top 3, the race for positions is heating up going into the last half of the season. In turn, this will make for some pretty exciting racing in the upcoming weeks.

Please keep in mind that this coming weekend is a double header at Sunset Speedway as Sunday August 15th, is the make up race for a previous rainout. The show starts at 3:00 pm and hope to see everyone out for a great afternoon of racing.

    Have a great week everyone.

Sunset International Speedway, 75 lap Invitational, Sunday August 1, 2010

We had a fantastic night for racing again on Sunday. With fan appreciation, it was great to see everyone out and getting autographs and treats from the drivers and their teams.

Coming off a win the night before, Tom and the crew were still excited over the win and were now concentrating on making this night a good night as well, knowing that they had a good car and awesome driver in Tom.

The first heat had Tom starting outside pole of the 48 of Baker. When the green flag dropped, Baker and Tom raced with Baker coming out ahead of Tom running the inside. Tom finished 2nd.

The second heat would see Tom starting 9th. With the 41 of Holdaway getting off to a good start, Tom was stuck in 9th with no one giving up their positions in the heat. Tom would finish 8th.

We would start the feature in 9th. Tom would work his way up to 2nd quickly behind the 19 of Jason Witty. Tom would not be able to catch Witty and would finish 2nd in the feature. At about lap 50, the crew could see smoke coming from the 47 and knew that they were losing a gear set. There hope would be that Tom being the veteran could bring it home 2nd, and he did exactly that.

Overall it was a good weekend for the 47 team with strong finishes for both days. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire crew for their dedication and commitment every week.

Also we would like to send out a special thanks to Mike Shave from Pro Floors for his donation of gifts for fan appreciation night. Their support is greatly appreciated.

Please remember that on August 7, 2010, it is Ontario Special Olympics night at Sunset International Speedway and hope to see everyone out to help support these amazing athletes.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday July 31st 2010

After a week off for rain, everyone was pretty excited to get back to racing. The weather was cooperating Saturday night, once again filling the stands with spectators and the pits with cars.

Tom and the crew were geared up for another shot at the feature win, which had been eluding them so far this season. With so many good cars, the competition has been tough all year long.

In the first heat Tom would be starting 8th and end up finishing 4th which was a good start to the evening.

In the second heat Tom started on the pole. When the flag fell, Tom would stay at the front and go on to win the heat.

As the team went to work making final adjustments for the feature. The team was confident in the changes and were ready for the feature which had Tom starting deep in field 16th. The feature would see 2 lengthy cautions for a large tangle of cars between turn 3 and 4, and then another for Jaime Horner who had suffered a concussion from an incident in turn 4 as well. Tom had managed to steer clear of trouble and quickly found himself beside the 45 of Poole on the final cautions of the race. Tom would race Poole hard on the outside, Tom got to the lead and captured the checkered flag for the win.

This win was exciting for Tom and the crew. Everyone was excited and happy to finally reap the rewards of the hard work and dedication put into the 47. A well deserved win for everyone on the team.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday July 17th 2010

Well what a great night for racing once again. As they have been every week, the grandstands were full and a flurry of activity Saturday night.

This past Saturday was the 2nd ride a long winner from McHappy Day. This would be Elliott Smith. He had a fantastic time Saturday night and when asked "how was the ride?" we were told "it was awesome and an amazing experience". There are some pictures posted on our picture page.

In the first heat, Tom started in pole position and when the green flag fell, he was off never looking back, going on to win the heat.

The second heat would prove to be tougher as Tom started 10th. Tom eventually got up to finish 7th.

In the feature, Tom would line up 15th on the grid and was on all accounts happy with the changes for the feature. Tom worked his way through traffic and would make his way to the 4th finishing position. It was a good night for Tom and the crew. With consistent finishes this year so far, we have been able to hold 2nd in the overall standings and know that a win is near. The competition this year has been pretty stout and hope for some great finishes in the second half of this season.

Have a great week everyone and see you all Saturday night.

Sunset International Speedway, Saturday July 10, 2010

What a night it was. The grandstands were packed with fans and the pits had almost everyone coming out to play. The late model field had 28 cars on hand and for the first time this year actually had to run a B Feature. Very impressive.

On this day, another special occasion was happening for Tom. His youngest daughter would be getting married and as such would make for an interesting evening. His daughter had already told Tom that he would be racing and that he might be just a little late.

The crew with the help of the Donaldson's would practise the car during the day to be sure the set up was ready. This would allow Tom to get changed and jump in the car for the second round of heats.

Tom would start the second heat at the back and when the green flag fell, he was off working his way forward to a forth place finish.

With missing the first round of heats and the number of late models high, Tom would have to start at the back of the B Feature. Within 3 laps Tom had made his way to the front and didn't look back going on to win the B Feature.

In the feature, Tom was set to start 19th. Tom was quite happy with the car and felt that the crew had done a good job with the set up. The feature seen quite a few cautions, and Tom worked his way through the field avoiding mishaps in front of him. Tom would work his way up to 2nd behind the 9 of Watson, but with laps running out and no more cautions, he was unable to catch Watson in time and would be very pleased with the 2nd place finish.

With the consistent top 5 finishes every night. Tom and the crew have moved to 2nd in the points and are hopeful that they will get that elusive feature win soon for 2010.

With such a good field of cars racing every week the competition is stiff and that in it self makes for the most exciting racing.

Thanks to everyone on the crew and all the extra hands Saturday in the absence of Tom at the beginning of the night. Have a great week everyone!

Peterborough Speedway Race 2 McColl Racing Series 100 laps,
    Sunday July 4, 2010

Well what a day Sunday was folks, super hot was on the schedule and alot of crispy skin by days end. The crew had spent the better part of Saturday changing gears and cleaning up the 47 preparing for Sunday's race. It would be a 100 laps for the second McColl Racing Series Race as well, this was the quailifier for the Chase for the Colors in October. The top 3 qualifiers in Sunday's race would have a position for the Fall Colors Classic. In all their were 16 cars that would make the field for Sundays race.

In the first heat, Tom started 8th and worked his way up to finish 2nd unable to catch the 41 of Holdaway. The car was working better but the track was quite slick from the heat.

In the second heat, Tom started 3rd and once again finished 2nd. This would make Tom top qualifier and with the roll of the dice, he would roll a 4, setting up a fourth place starting position for the feature.

With the help of Mike McColl on Sunday, changes were made to set up for the long race. At the start of the feature Tom would get to the bottom of the track and would be patient to preserve his equipment, so as to have something at the end. With that, Tom had radioed the spotter and informed him that the car was the best it had ever been and was extremely happy with the set up. At lap 40, there would be a competition yellow for all drivers to come to the pits. There would be no changing of tires only fuel top up and adjustments if necessary and fluids for baked drivers. The heat was overwhelming outside let alone inside the hot boxes they were in. After the competition yellow was over the cars would take to the track again. As the laps were clicking away, it would seem that Tom was getting looser and looser with every lap, unable to determine where the problem was, Tom came in under caution with 10 laps to go to make adjustments, none of the adjustments worked and Tom looked more like a dirt racer with the car sideways of every corner. Amazingly, Tom would hold on to it and finish a hard fought 7th. Once the race was over and information was gather it was determined that Tom had been racing with a near flat right rear tire. Considering the circumstances, it was an incredible drive for Tom and a tiring one at that.

We have the overall points standings listed at the top of this page. Thanks again to everyone that came out to support Tom and the Crew and thanks as well to Mike McColl for his assistance during the day. Special thanks go out the Jen Shirling for her racing chef expertise.

Stay cool everyone, its gonna be a hot one this week and hope to see you all out Saturday night at Sunset.

Sauble Speedway, McColl Racing Series 75 lapper, Saturday July, 3, 2010

Hey everyone, well the weather this past weekend was great for racing, not a rain drop to be found and seriously hot. The adventure would begin in Sauble on Friday night for the first of 4 McColl Racing Series races over the course of the summer.

The race was a 75 lapper. 18 cars would arrive for round one. Many of the Sauble regulars were in attendance and made for an exciting night.

In the first heat Tom finished a solid 3rd coming from the back. With coming back to Sauble after a long absence, since the ALSTAR days. It would take the crew some time to get the changes they were looking for. The track was quite slick and the crew worked to accomodate the changes.

In the second heat Tom finished 4th and once again changes were made to prepare for the feature race.

The feature had Tom starting 11th in the field and would have his work cut out for him working his way to the front. The feature saw only one caution on lap 2 and the rest of the race went green to the end. Tom had struggles with the car in the feature but drove his way to a 7th place finish. Once the race was over it was determined that they had lost a gear set as the wheels locked up once he got to the pits, but all in all it was a decent night and it was back to the shop to prepare for round 2 of the McColl Racing Series race at Peterborough on Sunday.

Thanks to all the fans who made the trek out to Sauble to cheer us on. We have the best and most supportive fans around. Also special thanks to Bert McColl for his help during the evening.

Sunset Speedway, Saturday June 19, 2010

Saturday night had a fantastic turnout for fan appreciation at Sunset Speedway and it was great to see everyone out and about getting autographs. The turnout was fantastic for cars as well, seeing a full field of cars in each division. The weather was great for the event. We would encounter a shower immediately following the heats, but luckily they passed and everyone stayed for the features.

During the intermission, Tom would also take out Janet Caird in the ride-a-long car. Janet was one of two winners from McHappy Day at the McDonalds in Angus. From all accounts she was delighted with her prize. Tom had said that she was very comfortable with him and lap after lap told him to go faster. Congratulations to Janet and hope she had a great time Saturday night.

In the first heat, Tom started 8th and had wasted no time working towards the front. The 97 of Holden would jump out to the lead and Tom would not be able to run him down in time and came home 2nd.

In the second heat, Tom was to start 2nd but the 87 of Foster, who had the pole encountered a fuel leak before the green and would have to pull to the infield thus giving Tom the pole for the heat where he would go on to take the checkered flag with a win.

The feature had Tom starting deep in the field and would have his work cut out for him working his way to the front. The feature would see one caution for the 59 of Slaughter as he went around in turn 3. Tom spent the first half of the feature stuck on the bottom unable to get out from behind the 79 of McLeod. The 45 of Poole had a substantial lead and with only a handful of laps left would blow a trany seal and end his night prematurely. This would then hand the lead over to 11 of Morrow and Tom would quickly get around 84 of Cronan to take 2nd on the night.

It was a good night for Tom and the crew. Everyone was pleased with the finishes on on the night. The 29 of Sean Grosman also had an excellent night, finishing 12th in the feature.

Have a great week everyone and be sure to remember that this weekend coming up is a double header at Sunset, running both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to make up for the rainout of June 11th.

Also keep an eye on the website for the first McColl Touring Late Model Series 75 Lap Race, taking place Friday July 2nd at Sauble Speedway and then on Sunday at Peterborough for the second race. Hope to see you all there!

    Sunset Speedway, June 5th 2010

Well it turned out to be a good night for racing after the forcasts were a little on the questionable side. The final report on the weather would be no rain until 11pm Saturday night and for a change that is exactly how it played out. Once the final feature was done, the skies opened and rain began. A good night of racing was had by all.

It turned out to be a busy night for Tom and the crew. The first order of business was checking repairs on the 29 of Sean Grosman's car. Tom went out for practice and determined there was an oil leak that could not be repaired at the track and thus Sean would be unable to compete. The next practice had Kyle Baker seeking assistance from Tom on issues with the 18 and Tom would go out and practice Kyle's car for 10 laps to help sort out a few bugs.

In the first heat Tom started 3rd and raced side by side with the 11 of Morrow. In the closing laps, Tom and Morrow would both get loose coming out the turn 2 with Tom prevailing and coming out the winner in the heat.

In the second heat Tom would start 5th on the inside and for 10 laps was unable to make any gains in position with such tight racing side by side, nonetheless Tom would finish the heat in 5th.

In the feature, Tom would start 14th. When the green flag fell Tom would go to work racing his way to the front, it was very close racing for positions. Tom had worked his way up to 5th before the caution would come out around lap 15 for the 14 of Horner who would spin directly into the path of Tom on the inside. Tom was able to drive through it with some damage, but not enough to bring him pit side and the decision was made to stay out. On the restart, Tom wasted no time getting by the 43 of Malcolm and 97 of Holden, knowing that the 11 of Morrow was lurking close behind. Another caution would come out and this now had Tom restarting 3rd with the 11 of Morrow on the outside. As the feature was drawing to a close, the 47 would become very loose and Tom would have to race hard to hold his position. Tom would come home with a 5th place finish and all in all it was a good night for Tom and the crew.

Many thanks go out to Danka for his weekly videos, Stephen from PC-Plus for great work on our website, also to Mike Shave from Pro floors for his support and encouragment, every week. Special thanks go out the the crew of both the 29 and 47.

Keep a look out for some new t-shirts soon, with a new look.,

Have a great week everyone and keep the shiny side up.

    Sunset Speedway, May 29th 2010

Well we were back at it on Saturday night and what a great season start it has been. The crowds at Sunset Speedway have been fantastic and seeing so many fans that we haven't seen for awhile is even better. The weather has been phenomenal to date and hope the entire season can remain just as good.

Stompin Tom and the crew have been very hard at work getting the setup for Sunset just right and with every week it is showing great signs of improvement quickly. On Saturday night we also had Mike & Jen McColl make the trek from London to Sunset for the first time this year and it was great to have them there. As Jen was snapping photos, Mike and the crew were making more changes to the car.

In the first heat Tom started near the rear, it was very tight side by side racing for the entire 10 laps and Tom managed to get to the 5th position when the checkered fell.

In the second heat Tom would start 4th and quickly get to the second position behind the 7 of Tiemersma. Tom dove to the bottom with 2 laps to go only to have the 7 come down and get spun. With Tom being involved, both cars would go to the rear for the final 2 laps and he managed a finish in the 8th position.

For the feature, Tom had a 14Th starting position. On the first lap the 19 of Witty would lose a rear end and with that, it would be complete restart. As the green flag fell, Tom quickly got to work through the field of cars. On lap 15 another caution would come out for a single car spin of the 63, setting up a side by side restart with Tom in 8th position at that point. It was evident that the car was working and Tom would work himself up to 4th and with about 9 laps left another caution would come out for the 55 of Rankin. With Tom outside of the 48 of Baker on the restart, he would quickly pass Baker and set his sights on the 11 of Morrow and 7 of Tiemersma who were battling each other side by side for top spot. Tom would finish the the feature with a 3rd place and overall, it was a good night for Tom and the crew as they had found key elements for their setup that clearly showed, they are heading in the right direction.

Hope everybody has a great week and see you all Saturday night. Keep cool!

    Sunset Speedway, May 15th 2010

Well a new racing season at Sunset International Speedway has gotten underway.

And what a turn out it was, the stands were full of fans waiting so see what all the hard work over the winter would bring in the way of racing. The fans would certainly not be disappointed on this night. The weather was fantastic and everyone was geared up to start.

Stompin Tom and the crew had been hard at work getting set up for the new racetrack with a couple of test sessions prior to Saturday night in an effort to be competitive, but like it is said so many times, change would be difficult. The racing surface had remained the same for 20 years and thus it was a whole new racetrack to Tom. The biggest factor in the change would be for the driver to adapt quickly to the new layout, and for the most part, Tom would be successful.

In the first heat Tom would start on the pole and ran the entire heat out front to finish first.

In the second heat Tom would start 8Th and come home 4Th without incident.

For the feature it would be the 19 of Witty that would roll the dice for the invert. Jason rolled a 6 and that would set up Tom for the pole position to start the feature.

The feature rolled off smooth with only one caution for the 81 spin. Tom would progressively get loose as the feature went on and would fall back slightly because of it. On the restart, the third car would be a lap car with the 7 on the inside and Tom on the outside. On the green both Tiemersma and Tom would attempt to get around the lap car at the same time, with Tom already coming out of the corner well high he would lose more positions and with 5 laps remaining was able to make his way to 5th just edging out the 45 of Poole for the position.

All in all it was a productive first night for Stompin Tom and the crew. Everyone will be working this week to fine tune the bugs out and get ready for the first points night of the season.

Have a great week everyone and see ya Saturday.
